Mission Details
The Mars 2020 mission is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program, a long-term effort of robotic exploration of the Red Planet. This mission addresses questions about the potential for life on Mars and takes the next step by not only seeking signs of habitable conditions on Mars in the ancient past but also searching for signs of past microbial life itself.
LAUNCHED: July 30, 2020
LANDED: February 18, 2021
Optimax on Board
Optimax made lenses for the 2020 Mars Rover Perseverance. Our lenses are on-board the MASTCAM-Z (zoomable panoramic cameras) and SHERLOC (ultraviolet spectrometer) systems of the rover.
For space flight applications, Optimax utilizes specialized fabrication, coating, cleaning, handling, and packaging process designed and certified for contamination control, high radiation, and/or low-temperature environments.
