Optimax has partnered with the Finger Lakes Advanced Manufacturers’ Enterprise (FAME) to help fill the pipeline with skilled technology workers. FAME is a not-for-profit organization that’s mission is to help manufacturers develop their most vital resource – people.
FAME’s biggest priorities include:
Optimax President Mike Mandina is a founding father and the chair of FAME, and Optimax is actively involved with FAME’s committees. These committees are active in the community, making appearances at career fairs, high schools and colleges, and by proudly supporting the Boy Scouts of America and the FIRST Lego League. In 2008, Mike was recognized by the New York Business Hall of Fame for his work with FAME.
As part of the FAME initiative, Optimax aims to educate young people by offering interested students and schools tours of our workplace. The exposure to manufacturing creates awareness of the numerous options available to students, as well as the skill set required in today’s advanced manufacturing environment.
FAME also encourages advanced manufacturers to keep a strong focus on the workforce and create an environment of continuous learning, opportunity, and advancement. Optimax has taken a lead role in securing grants for local manufacturers to provide training. We strongly encourage our friends and colleagues to make the effort to build up their workforce.
Optimax offers tours for all ages and groups elementary, middle school, high school, college and community. If your students or group are interested in visiting our facility for a tour please contact us today to schedule one.
Optimax takes a leadership role in the optics industry. Professional and university research affiliations allow Optimax access to information that helps us provide an even better product and customer experience. Our collaboration in the research that will advance the optical manufacturing industry and improve our community is clear in our involvement in associations like these:
