# U.S. Department of Energy Announces $68 Million For Small Businesses Developing Technologies to Cut Emissions

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)  announced awards totaling more than $68 million that will go to 53 small businesses that are solving scientific problems. Optimax was awarded $1,135,055 for the Advanced Manufacturing and Smoothing of X-Ray Mirrors, Phase II.

 

 This project will advance the state of the art in domestic ultra-precision x-ray synchrotron mirror manufacturing through novel robotic manufacturing techniques. The effort will include process and measurement improvements to push mirror manufacturing to nanometer-level precision across optics approaching 1 meter in size.
