TOMKelly
Financial Controller
Tom
Kelly, our Chief Financial Officer, joined Optimax in May 2001. His
previous professional position was a Partner with a large, regional
certified public accounting firm located in Rochester, New York. Over
his twenty-five year career with this firm, Tom served many
Not-For-Profit, Retail and Manufacturing clients. In addition, Tom
served as the firm’s IT leader. He is a 1975 graduate from St. John
Fisher College with a BS degree in Accounting. Tom recently completed the Executive MBA program at the Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester. He is a lifetime
resident of Rochester, New York.
Tom married his high school sweetheart, Chris, and they are now “empty nesters”, except for their puppy. Their two daughters are in college and their son is employed in Seattle, Washington as a video game animator.
Golf is a summer-time passion; his goal is to get his handicap down a couple of strokes, to 17 this year. In the fall and winter he enjoys watching the Buffalo Bills and downhill skiing. He also enjoys cooking for his family and recently started hiking with Chris. Tom recently enrolled in the Executive M.B.A program at the Simon Graduate School of Business at the University of Rochester.
When asked about his work experiences, Tom comments that "seeing a manufacturing company from the inside has been enlightening. Observing the day to day challenges of a progressive and technologically innovative company like Optimax, seeing the successes (and failures), and assisting management in positioning Optimax as the premier provider of prototype optics has made my time here tremendously rewarding, both professionally and personally."
